Community Leaders Association Auction: The Violet & Gold Gala, CLU

he 29th Annual Community Leaders Association auction, also known as the Violet & Gold Gala, was held November 9 at the Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center at California Lutheran University. This year, the event raised $50,000 for faculty grants that will benefit CLU’s academic programs as well as $9,000 that will enable 20 CLU students to travel to Biloxi, MS to help victims of Hurricane Katrina rebuild their homes. The evening’s festivities peaked during the live auction when “Kingsmen Creek,” an original oil painting by CLU alumnus Michael Lynn Adams, sparked a heated bidding war. Other popular auction items included a luxury suite for a Kings or Clippers game and a four-night stay at a resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. The evening included cocktails, a silent auction, live jazz music, and a dinner featuring a cleverly prepared Peruvian purple and Yukon gold potato salad.
